  9. History:
  10.  
  11. I am a medical illustrator working for a large university near Cape Town,
  12. the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. I create animated videos,
  13. slides, and graphics for publications, congresses and lectures.
  14. These two files were created for a doctor who had to present a paper on
  15. the research she had on the HIV virus. The whole paper was rather dry and
  16. she wanted a coupleof cartoons to illustrate the two divergent attitudes
  17. of the public towards AIDS, and to bring a lighter note to the congress.
  18.  
  19. I came up with these two creations which I hope brought home the point.
  20. I love cartooning and these just seemed to draw themselves.
  21.  
  22. The originals were small pen and ink drawings that I sketched on some scrap
  23. paper. I scanned them using a HP ScanJet II Plus connected to my Amiga
  24. A4000/040.in 2-colour B&W IFF format. (We use the Amigas for doing most
  25. of our work) The colour was added using Deluxe Paint IV AGA. Various fill
  26. types and modes were used to get a bright rounded effect. The finished work
  27. then imported into Art Department Professional 2.3.0 for cropping, scaling
  28. and additional text. The files were then put onto stiffy and taken to a
  29. bureau that has a LFR Plus film recorder for final imaging onto 35mm slides.

  33. Me... Well I'm not going to bore you with a whole load of family history

  40. These files are not public domain, but freely distibutable. Don't copy
  41. them and add your own name, change them, mutilate them, use them to line
  42. the cat litter box etc, etc. I have the copyright to them, but enjoy them
  43. nevertheless. Legal ramblings off...
